During cementing jobs the cement slurry needs to be separated from other wellbore fluids to avoid contamination. The plug system is comprised of two components, the Top Plug and the Bottom Plug. The Bottom plug is launched first to remove fluid in the casing that could contaminate the cement slurry. The plug is designed to rupture when it reaches the bottom which allows cement to pass through the plug and into the space between the casing and formation. The Top Plug is a solid core and is designed to be drilled through after the cement job.
